The mechanical system replacement included new chilled water and condenser water pumps in a central chilled water plant using variable speed pumping and low-temperature, wide-differential designs.

Located in a mechanical penthouse, the new plant includes two centrifugal water chilling units in a parallel piping arrangement, as well as a water-side economizer heat exchanger, cooling towers, and high-efficiency condenser water filtration.

Rated among the top two percent of energy-efficient buildings in the nation, 1200 Nineteenth Street is a LEED® Platinum, 11-story tower set in Washington, D.C.'s Central Business District. Working with the international developer Hines and architect SmithGroup, we engineered a complete transformation of the building's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The project included a three-story addition, bringing the building to a total of 340,000 square feet. The building's retail tenants remained in place for the duration of the project.
