Heather Platt, PE, a senior project manager for
Dewberry, has been appointed to the Facility Guideline Institute’s Health
Guidelines Revision Committee (HGRC) for the 2019-2020 term. She represents the
North Piedmont Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and
Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
“On behalf of the North Piedmont ASHRAE Chapter
we are pleased to congratulate Heather on this prestigious recognition and
assignment. Heather has been heavily involved with ASHRAE since her inception
in 1998 at the chapter, regional, and society levels. She has served on
multiple technical committees and councils and has always found time to help
the local chapter in any way possible. We are very fortunate to have Heather
within our chapter community. We are confident that she will serve this role
well and look forward to seeing how she will utilize her extensive professional
background in healthcare design to help ASHRAE set the guidelines and standards
moving forward,” says ASHRAE North Piedmont President Kevin Brese.
Platt has been in the mechanical engineering
industry for nearly 25 years, and an active member of ASHRAE for 21. She
manages healthcare-related projects based in Dewberry’s Raleigh, North Carolina,
office.
“I am so honored to have been selected to
represent ASHRAE and Dewberry on the HGRC,” says Platt. “The Facility Guideline
Institute sets the standard for many guidelines in my line of work, and I am
thrilled to be involved in reviewing and setting those standards alongside many
of my esteemed colleagues.”
Platt earned her master’s in business
administration from Medaille College (2008) and a bachelor’s in mechanical
engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo (2000). In 2017,
her work as a contributing author for the paper titled, “Water Management in Healthcare
Facilities: Complying with ASHRAE Standard 188” was published by the American
Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE). In 2013, Platt served as a
contributing author in ASHRAE’s HVAC
Design Manual for Hospitals and Clinics, 2nd Edition.
