Dewberry has announced the promotion of more than 65 employees nationwide, including six staff members within the firm’s Baltimore and Lanham, Maryland, offices, and Gainesville and Leesburg, Virginia, offices. The promotions coincide with Dewberry’s ongoing expansion of engineering, architectural, and consulting services in the D.C. metropolitan region, where the firm has practiced since 1956.

Maryland

In Dewberry’s Baltimore and Lanham offices, promotions include:

Lisa Betz, PE, LEED AP BD+C, and Rachel Leitzinger, PE, have been promoted to senior associate. Betz is a senior project manager with the site/civil group in the Baltimore office and earned her bachelor’s in civil engineering from Duke University (2002). She is a professional engineer in Maryland, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. Leitzinger, a senior project manager with the site/civil group in the Lanham office, earned her bachelor’s in civil engineering from the Pennsylvania State University (2005). She is a professional engineer in Washington, D.C., and Maryland, and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and Maryland Society of Professional Engineers.

Virginia

In Dewberry’s Gainesville and Leesburg offices, promotions include:

Nicholas Carswell and David Boeing, PE, ENV SP, have been promoted to senior associate. Carswell is a senior construction manager in the Gainesville office. He earned his master’s in military history from Norwich University (2007) and his bachelor’s in political science and history from the State University of New York at Potsdam (1996). He is a certified engineering technician by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies and has a number of Virginia Department of Transportation certifications in construction inspection and site safety. Boeing is a senior civil engineer and project manager in Leesburg. He earned a bachelor’s in civil engineering from the University of Illinois (1988), and is a professional engineer in Virginia. He is a representative of the Loudoun County Facilities Standards Manual Public Review committee and a certified Envision Sustainability Professional.

Edward Umbrell, PE and Bryan Lilly, PLA have been promoted to associate in Gainesville. Umbrell is a senior project manager in the water resources department. He earned a bachelor’s in industrial arts education from Millersville University (1985) and a bachelor’s in civil engineering from the University of Maryland (1993). Umbrell is a professional engineer in Virginia and a designated plans examiner in Fairfax County, Virginia. He is a member of the Engineers and Surveyors Institute (ESI), Virginia Lakes and Watersheds Association (VLWA), Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA), and Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO). Lilly is a project manager and landscape architect, and earned his bachelor’s in landscape architecture from West Virginia University (2002). He is a registered landscape architect in Virginia and a member of NVBIA.
