Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has been recognized by the National Association of Flood and Stormwater Management Agencies for its work raising public awareness of flooding in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. The campaign, "Flood Risk: Safety, Control, and Responsibility," received second place in the Public Awareness of Flooding - Campaign category in the nationwide annual contest.

As part of a community education and outreach campaign conducted in coordination with the St. Bernard Parish Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and Lake Borgne Basin Levee District, "Flood Risk: Safety, Control, and Responsibility" was part of a statewide effort to communicate important information about flood risk management and improve community understanding of coastal protection and restoration.

To reduce risks to life and property from natural hazards, this public awareness campaign encouraged people to take simple actions to prevent flooding. Dewberry created maps and easy-to-understand diagrams of the parish's flood risk reduction techniques and complex interior drainage systems.

The campaign included electronic materials disseminated through local news affiliates, government television, and social media along with hard-copy informational components shared at workshops and public meetings.
