Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has hired William S. McMullen, LEED AP, as the business unit manager for the newly formed energy solutions group. Located in Dewberry's Raleigh, North Carolina, office, he will be responsible for all facets of the group's client and project development.

McMullen has more than 25 years of experience in building operations, facility engineering and commissioning, and energy engineering. He has significant knowledge of building automation, building controls, system integration, and building maintenance. Prior to joining Dewberry, McMullen was the eastern operations manager for the energy solutions group at Eaton Corporation.

McMullen's body of work includes complex HVAC, building automation, energy efficiency, and commissioning projects for medical facilities, higher education buildings, K-12 schools, industrial facilities, and commercial office buildings. He is the co-creator of WebCx©, a web-based commissioning documentation system that covers all aspects of the commissioning process.

"I am very excited to be a part of Dewberry and have this opportunity to add additional services for Dewberry clients," says McMullen. "It's a natural fit and our team is looking forward to working with an outstanding group of professionals to deliver even more value for the life cycle of our clients' facilities. Reducing energy consumption, improving and optimizing facility operations, and improving the built environment through commissioning is what we are all about."

McMullen was recently appointed as the president of the international board of directors of the Building Commissioning Association, the recognized authority and resource on building commissioning. He is also an instructor at North Carolina State University, in the Office of Professional Development – Engineering, teaching a course on commissioning and energy efficiency for the past seven years.
