Merdith W. B. "Bo" Temple Joins Dewberry Board of Directors

Retired Maj. Gen. Merdith W. B. "Bo" Temple, PE, PMP, chosen as new member of company's board of directors.

Dewberry Chairman Barry K. Dewberry and Chief Executive Officer Donald E. Stone, Jr., recently announced the confirmation of retired Maj. Gen. Merdith W. B. "Bo" Temple, PE, PMP, to the company's board of directors.

Temple retired from the U.S. Army on August 31, 2012 after serving his country for more than 37 years. His most recent position, from 2011 to 2012, was acting chief of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and acting commanding general. Prior to this post, he held positions of increasing responsibility within the Corps of Engineers, including deputy chief of engineers and deputy commanding general for the corps and deputy commanding general for the corps' civil and emergency operations and military and international operations.

Merdith W. B. "Bo" Temple, PE, PMP, graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and from Texas A&M University with a Master of Science degree in civil engineering.

Temple's significant records of achievement during his career with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers include:

  • Delivering a $12 billion military construction program to the Army and Air Force across the United States and internationally, including support to overseas military operations (Iraq and Afghanistan reconstruction).
  • Delivering a $10 billion civil works and emergency operations program, including navigation/port improvements, flood risk reduction, coastal protection, hydropower, water supply infrastructure, ecosystem restoration, and emergency response/recovery support to local, state, tribal, and federal agencies.
  • Serving as commander of the North Atlantic Division in NYC; theater engineer in Iraq; chief operations officer (G3), XVIII Airborne Corps and commander of the 20th Engineer Brigade, Fort Bragg, NC; staff engineer to NATO, Izmir, Turkey.

Temple is a licensed professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a certified project management professional. He is a fellow and member of the Society of American Military Engineers; a fellow and member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and a member of the ASCE Industry Leader Forum; and a member of the Army Engineer Association and International Navigation Congress (PIANC).

In 2012, he received the OPAL Award from ASCE for a lifetime achievement in government. In 2009, Engineering News-Record named Temple a Top 25 Newsmaker.
