Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has recently hired Mark Work, PE, PMP, as deputy department manager in the firm's New York City office. In his new role, Work's project management duties will include inspections, planning, and design oversight of local streets, intermodal transportation facilities, expressways, urban highways, and site development. He will also assist with staff development.

With more than 30 years of experience in bridge, highway, and local roadway design, rehabilitation, and inspection, Work's projects range from the development and feasibility analysis of alternative designs to preparation of final construction documents and construction service support. As a project manager at URS Corporation, his most notable projects include two of the largest infrastructure design projects for the New York State Department of Transportation:

  • Brooklyn-Queens Expressway – a $252 million infrastructure improvement project
  • Bruckner-Sheridan Interchange Reconstruction – a $300 million URS/Dewberry joint venture

Work holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from West Point Military Academy and is a former combat engineer officer in the U.S. Army. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Project Management Institute, American Society of Quality, and American Public Works Association.
