The award-winning restoration of the historic Morristown Green in New Jersey, designed by Anna Cheng Young, RLA, LLA, of Dewberry, has again earned recognition—this time from a national design magazine. Landscape Architect and Specifier News, a leading magazine focused on land planning and landscape architecture, featured the project recently in an article entitled "Morristown Green, N.J.—George Washington Slept Here…A Lot."

Editor Stephen Kelly worked with Cheng Young to write the piece, which reviews the history of the 2.5-acre park and its redevelopment. Kelly notes that Cheng Young's renovation design provides a "careful balance between plantings and hardscape" with hardscape elements "designed to highlight Morristown's role as the military capital of the American Revolution."

The article credits the many participants and contributors to the restoration process, led by the Trustees of Morristown Green, Inc. In addition to Cheng Young's design and project management, Dewberry provided civil engineering services for the project. The restoration of the Morristown Green won a Merit Award in 2009 from the New Jersey chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, with the jury lauding the project as a "noteworthy accomplishment" and "excellent work."

The Landscape Architect & Specifier News article appears in the June 2010 issue.
