Northern Illinois premier design firm joined Dewberry organization.

Dewberry, a privately held firm based in Fairfax, Virginia, has announced that as of March 1, 2009, Burnidge Cassell Associates (BCA) has become a Dewberry company, making it part of a 2,000-person, national, professional services practice. BCA will operate from its Elgin, Illinois, office under the name PSA-Dewberry/BCA, as part of PSA-Dewberry in Dewberry's architectural division.

Established in 1967, BCA provided architectural, architectural interiors, landscape architecture, and planning services throughout Illinois for park districts, municipalities, school districts, library districts, college and universities, and the private sector. The firm's market segments closely aligned with PSA-Dewberry's current offerings, including educational, recreation, and municipal facilities, as well as a specialty in library design.

Some of the firm's more recent projects included design of the new, 54,500-square-foot Addison Public Library in Addison, Illinois; the LEED Gold®, 88,000-square-foot classroom and library at Harm Weber Academic Center at Judson University in Elgin, Illinois, in association with Short & Associates; the 380,000-square-foot Hampshire High School in Hampshire, Illinois, the 2008 Illinois Association of School Board Officials' award for Green Building Recognition; and the 63,000-square-foot Joliet Park District Inwood Athletic Club, Illinois, which received the 2007 Park and Recreation Association's Outstanding Facility Award.

"I have known and respected PSA-Dewberry for as many years as we have been in business," says PSA-Dewberry/BCA Principal Charles Burnidge. "I am looking forward to sharing our two firms' expertise."

"BCA is well known in Illinois for providing excellent design services to markets we have also had the privilege to serve," says PSA-Dewberry President Randy Gibson. "We look forward to bringing together our teams of professionals to better serve our clients."

"Even in challenging economic times, we are continuing to seek out appropriate growth opportunities," says Ronald L. Ewing, Dewberry CEO. "I am pleased that BCA is joining Dewberry. They are a solid firm with a wonderful reputation."
