Dewberry provides the full range of planning, design and construction management services for municipal infrastructure and utilities. Dewberry’s municipal engineering practice has resulted in long-term client relationships in which the firm is often viewed as a community’s “municipal engineer.”
At Dewberry we also work very closely with our municipal clients to identify funding sources and develop funding and financing strategies for their projects, to stay abreast of federal and state regulations and requirements, and to look for opportunities to apply creative and innovative solutions to their infrastructure needs.
Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities: Dewberry has extensive experience planning, permitting, and designing treatment facilities for municipal water and wastewater needs. This experience includes the design of hundreds of treatment facilities ranging in size from less than 1 million gallons per day (MGD) to 180 MGD. Our designs include the application of state-of-the-art technologies to meet stringent regulations and permit requirements.
Water Supply: Dewberry has worked closely with numerous municipal clients to address their water supply needs. This includes feasibility studies for groundwater sources and surface water sources up to 50 MGD. Dewberry’s water supply experience includes the design of high-yield groundwater supply wells, surface water reservoirs and dams, and off-line storage impoundments. Pursuant to federal and state regulations, Dewberry also provides the environmental studies and permitting services required to construct water supply facilities.
Water Distribution, Pumping, and Storage Facilities: Dewberry’s experience in water distribution systems includes system-wide computer hydraulic modeling, planning studies, and the design of system components including pumping facilities, transmission and distribution mains, and storage facilities. Dewberry has successfully designed transmission mains up to 54-inches diameter, and hundreds of storage facilities ranging in size from 100,000 gallons to 10 million gallons.
Water System Vulnerability Assessments: Dewberry assists its clients in obtaining EPA grant funds, conducting vulnerability assessments, preparing and updating emergency response plans, and designing facility upgrades. Our extensive water infrastructure design experience combined with our security engineering and emergency planning expertise brings state-of-the-art techniques to your critical infrastructure protection needs.
Wastewater Collection Pumping and Storage Facilities: Dewberry has planned and designed entire wastewater collection systems for previously unsewered communities, designed sewer interceptors up to 54 inches diameter, and designed sophisticated wastewater pumping facilities that include flow equalization storage as large as 16 million gallons.
Dewberry also has extensive experience in the study and evaluation of sewer systems for the elimination of infiltration and inflow. This experience includes the application of different investigative and repair/replacement construction technologies.
Solid Waste Facilities: Dewberry has sited, permitted, and designed municipal landfills for municipal solid waste and for inert debris. This experience includes the design of support facilities such as transfer stations, collection center, leachate management and treatment, and gas management and treatment. Dewberry also provides full environmental monitoring services including groundwater monitoring and remediation programs, groundwater sampling and analyses, and gas monitoring and analyses.
