As the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) largest contractor, Dewberry plays a significant role in the national effort to reduce the impact of both natural (flood, fire, earthquake, tropical cyclone, tornado, and winter storm) and manmade (terrorism) hazards on people, property, and the economy.
For more than 20 years, our Emergency Management Services Department has provided programmatic support, planning, and technical assistance to FEMA and other federal, state, and local government agencies nationwide in support of their disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts.
Emergency management projects include:
-
Performing hazard vulnerability assessments
-
Determining a hazard’s expected magnitude and frequency of occurrence
-
Developing potential mitigation strategies and alternatives
-
Local mitigation planning that analyzes a community’s environmental, economic, legislative, and physical land uses in order to create a balanced plan for a safer, more sustainable community.
