John P. Fowler II, PE

A civil engineer with more than 30 years of experience, former Chief Executive Officer John Fowler has been with the Dewberry organization since 1983. He has designed and managed some of the largest infrastructure development and improvement projects on the East Coast, working with state departments of transportation, transit agencies, airports, and federal agencies.
Prior to serving as chief executive officer from 2001 to 2005, Mr. Fowler served as managing principal of Dewberry’s infrastructure planning and design services, overseeing the work of several of the firm’s offices in the mid-Atlantic and the northeast. He has been instrumental in the expansion of the firm’s services and geographic markets, overseeing a number of successful mergers and acquisitions—including the acquisition of Goodkind & O’Dea, a major engineering presence in the northeastern US.
Mr. Fowler is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, and the Dulles Corridor Rail Association. He holds a BS in civil engineering from the University of Kansas.
