PSA-Dewberry has a depth of experience designing outstanding public safety facilities for municipal clients and for state and federal agencies. Many of our clients' requirements include facilities for law enforcement and fire departments. In the course of serving our clients we have also gained considerable expertise with related projects such as city halls, municipal courts and other municipal facilities. Collectively, this body of work represents the Public Safety segment of our firm's practice.
In 2004, PSA-Dewberry was recognized by the American Institute of Architects, Committee on Architecture for Justice, for receiving six design awards for projects in five different states.
We also provide in-house supplementary services to our core practice of architecture, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil engineering, and interior design and furniture selection services tailored to the unique needs of public safety. Technology is also one of our core disciplines. Our certified designers maximize the capabilities of technology in the form of voice, data, security, 911 and audio/visual systems and the cabling infrastructure supporting them, enabling staff to be more effective. Other services offered include needs assessment studies, pre-referendum planning, site evaluation and selection, architectural design, 911 center planning, interior design, all engineering disciplines and technology design.

Niles Police Station
Niles, Illinois
PSA-Dewberry provided the facility needs assessment, design and implementation for this new police station located at a high-profile intersection in a Chicago suburb. The 50,000 SF building houses patrol vehicles, a firing range, and locker/fitness areas on the lower level. The main level includes patrol, evidence processing and storage, prisoner processing along with records, public lobby and community/training room. The upper level serves investigations and administration.

Jack Evans Police Headquarters
Dallas, Texas
This new 352,000 SF police headquarters is located in an area of Dallas undergoing revitalization. The new six-story building was designed to house the central administration offices, investigation division, records, personnel, identification laboratory and automated fingerprint/identification systems. A central courtyard introduces natural light into the core of the building and a bridge connects to an existing 1,200 car parking structure.

Public Safety Department
Highland Park, Texas
PSA-Dewberry worked with the Town of Highland Park, Texas to renovate and expand its existing Public Safety Department located at the town hall. Due to the site constraints and the need for the Public Safety Department to remain in operation during construction of their new facility, the addition was constructed in two phases. The Department moved into Phase I so the existing bays and living quarters could be demolished and Phase II constructed in their place. The addition was designed to complement the Spanish revival architecture of the existing town hall and included new apparatus bays, living quarters and office space.

Fire & Rescue Training Center Expansion
Loudoun County, VA
This fire and rescue training center expansion project was designed by PSA-Dewberry to include a two-story 18,000 SF classroom and administration building addition, a new 22,000 SF high bay field house with interior training tower, a new three-story 8,200 SF structural burn building, and ancillary support structures.
