PSA-Dewberry has been planning and designing detention and correctional facilities for over three decades for local, state and federal clients. As recognition of our expertise, we have had over 40 projects featured in the AIA Committee on Architecture for Justice’s annual Justice Facilities Review. To date, our firm’s architects and planners, many of whom have devoted the majority of their career to this unique project type, have designed over 60,000 adult and juvenile secure beds of all custody levels. They have personally participated in the evolution of the linear, indirect supervised jail into the new generation podular, direct supervision facility. They understand how the built environment can improve operations and staffing levels as well as the overall security for correctional officers, the inmates and the community at large. PSA-Dewberry is committed to participating in the next generation of jail design whatever the future may bring.
