Handbook to provide guidelines for state and local debris planning and operations

Dewberry has recently been awarded a research contract through the Transportation Research Board (TRB) in Washington, D.C., to develop a Debris Management Handbook for local and state departments of transportation (DOTs) throughout the nation. The goal behind the research project and handbook development is to help transportation and public works agencies and other key stakeholders understand how to plan for and recover from natural and manmade debris-generating disasters.

Dewberry emergency management, planning and debris management specialists will conduct an extensive review of available resources, applications, policies, and guidelines, as well as tap into their own field experience to finish the handbook. TRB and Dewberry expect to deliver a practical and comprehensive debris management guide that supports best practices and compliance with applicable regulations.
